About the Artist
Julia Syrzistie is a designer and printmaker. Her process often starts with experimenting, in particular with letterpress printing. Using letterpress as a medium impacts the visual quality of new work, as well as the themes she works with, through design-focused research, which printmaking allows to explore. She is equally as focused on developing work based on personal research, client briefs and artistic collaborations.
Julia seeks narratives or concepts which can be made more captivating or intriguing through the addition of visual language. She is visually drawn to non-figurative ways of illustrating and designing: through typography, shapes or using objects to create new meanings. Her style is a nod to the era of the handmade, and sensitive to materials and colours.
