Galloway Treasure – Sarah Stewart

£55.00

“Galloway Treasure” is a beautifully executed screenprint that depicts broken crockery found washed up on a local beach at Garlieston. It contains eight layers of screenprinted detail. With careful consideration of environmental ethics, Sarah uses a waterbased system in the creation of her prints. Each print is individually signed and editioned by the artist. Every print purchased comes accompanied by a half tone screenprint of the beach where the crockery was found. Due to the handmade nature of the printing process every print has slight variations making each unique.

About the Artist

A designer and printmaker based in Wigtown, SW Scotland, Sarah Stewart’s work is inspired by patterns and typography found within my environment and found objects. It embraces the past, thrown away and pre-loved and seeks to create something fresh and contemporary from these. Sarah especially enjoys trawling through her local vintage shops looking for ephemera, once someone else’s treasure, to inspire. Sarah intends to invoke in the viewer a feeling of sentimentality and fondness for the past.
