Simon uses screen print to make atmospheric images of the sea and coast. The theme of much of his work is our relationship, both emotional and physical, with the natural world.
Sometimes the ocean and clouds are the subject, sometimes buildings, boats, people or animals.
Simon studied printmaking at Chelsea College of Art, where he won the prestigious British Instituition Fund Award for printmaking. He remained in London after leaving University and worked as a scenic painter and muralist. In 2002 he moved to Bristol, where he has a studio close to the harbour, where he also teaches screenprint.
In 2019 Simon won the Founders Award at at Printfest, Ulverston.
