How do you stay home, when you no longer have one?
We have decided to run a pre-Christmas event with the theme of Home & Belonging a long time ago. It’s something that comes to us every festive season – with many advertisement and media celebrating togetherness and homeliness, and many travelling to be with family, those who who are displaced are often forgotten. It is also something many people reflected on in 2020 – whether you have been stuck at home for weeks; or are not able to get home; or have to keep a distance from friends and family – we all had our complex feelings about our home and sense of belonging this year.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, many refugees and the amazing charities that help them have been, and still are, facing new challenges, with many temporary accommocation options no longer Covid-safe and options for settlement sparse.
We are very pleased to have partnered up with an incredible small charity RefuAid for our next event At Home. RefuAid is a fairly new charity set up by two inspirational women Anna Jones & Tamsyn Brewster during the Syrian Refugee crisis in 2015. They provide practical solutions to the challenges many refugees face in the UK – focusing on helping people to requalify through high-level language training, interest-free finance and advice and support. We love their extremely human way of working – all support is provided based on each individual’s circumstances, they really harness the power of human connections, and make the people they support feel at home.
Here’s a little video for you to meet some of the lovely people at RefuAid:

At Home will start at 10am on the 20th of November and run until the 20th of December, with many new work from our artists – including some exciting new artists – some will be selected by RefuAid Staff, volunteers and clients. A minimum of 20% of all sales at the event will go to the RefuAid – you can donate directly too.
Subscribers to our newsletters will have the opportunity to preview on the 19th of November – look out for our email invite!
Thank you and please take care.
With warm wishes,
